Segment Director

SALARY:  $170,000 – $180,000 plus 25% Bonus Potential

Our client is an international, well recognized manufacturer of engineered polymers. They have engaged us in their search for a Segment Director who will lead in the areas of sales, marketing, pricing, and new product development supporting Lighting, Electronics, Optical, and their Distribution Channel.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Segment Director is to develop a regional strategy that includes capturing new business through product innovation and geographic expansion into Mexico. This individual will lead cross-functional and cross regional team peers through the implementation of regional strategy.

This position can be seated in the US from the Eastern Coast to the Midwest and be in close proximity to a major airport.

As Segment Director, you must:

  • Develop, update, and drive the industry segment strategy based on customer Voice of the Customer (VOC) and market trends to meet divisional requirements and implement country specific action plans and forward looking product plans.
  • Ensure the company value proposition for the target segment is developed and is well communicated (internally and externally).
  • Define levels of pricing and services for customers based on sub-segment markets.
  • Drive approval and monitor the progress of specific segment innovation and application projects.
  • Develop the business case for new products and solutions and manage product portfolio and life cycle.
  • Drive promotional approach (exhibition, fairs, technical presentations, customer events).
  • Prepare and provide compelling presentations.

Segment Director Qualifications:

  • MUST HAVE a Bachelor’s in an Engineering discipline, polymer science, chemistry, or related science. MBA is preferred.
  • MUST HAVE 10 years of sales / technical / marketing / OEM Development / Business Development experience supplying plastic based products. Global experience is highly preferred.
  • Must have previous experience in strategic planning, communication, and presentation to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering polymers or PMMA materials is preferred.
  • Able to travel 40% of your time, with some international travel.
